tyrone monorail

I looked it up online, and the owner of this won it on eBay about 4 years ago. It's sitting right on the main street now. Decorated for Christmas, no less - I don't know if you can tell in the picture but icicle lights are running across the top, and they're lit. I am in awe that he owns a monorail car, rumor has it it still says all the 'welcome to Disney' stuff when the door opens!Posted by Picasa

incredible thrift store day

I wanted to go to the thrift store this morning, and didn't even know why. I found out after I got there - a paper folder for $15!!!! They're over $500 new. The lady seemed really upset when I told her how much they're worth, and kept talking about how a church donated it. When I assured her it would still be folding church work, she said at least it would be going to a good home, and I understood COMPLETELY how she felt. I hate giving things away sometimes, and knowing something is going to a good home helps for some reason. The little Christmas ornaments were part of a big bag full - I gave them all away but these. Aren't they cute??

Also today, a big thanks to Gnat for the sewing book. I went and saw her family yesterday, after the big early morning shopping extravaganza which I did again. The trick - leave at 7am. You get there and most of the stuff isn't sold out yet, but the angry pushy people have come and gone already.

If you care to see, I put up more videos at youtube. Steph, I think I fixed it now. Posted by Picasa

spooky tree

I hope they don't take out the spooky tree when they build whatever it is that's going up by Starrs Mill. I forgot to add earlier - we're driving along, and a car one lane over keeps swerving. Sean tells me the guy has papers in one hand and a cell in the other and is acting like he's in an office instead of driving. A minute later, it happens again.

Me: Damn, I wish he'd watch where he's going.
Pause
Pause
Sean: There should be a gun you can shoot at people like that, but instead of bullets it shoots friendly reminders.
Me: :)

$ Chicken Quesadillas

So here's a post about chicken quesadillas. I'm going to add these from time to time for whoever wants to try something different. What made these so good is the mexican brand fajita seasoning I put all over the chicken and onions. I cooked those in a pan and when it cooled a little, I chopped it all up with one of those food choppers and put it on the tortillas with cheese.

You can see, they turned out SO GOOD with salsa and sour cream on them.

If you want really professional looking cooking photos and recipes, go to google.com and choose the 'even more' search options until you get to the page where you can search blogs. Some people do this so well I'm surprised they don't have their own magazines. Those blog searches are funny like that, whatever you know how to do, someone else can do it better and blog about it with beautiful pictures. I stand by my dinners though. $ means less than $5 for all four of us, I served them with a 99 cent 2 liter of coke and a $1 bag of frozen corn. Posted by Picasa

Taste of Home Cooking School

So we went to the Taste of Home Cooking School in Newnan. Shockingly enough, Gnat wasn't able to make it after all. Here we are in our seats by the wall - we got there a little late and thanks to the Fight Club movie, whenever I pass a row of seated people I hear Brad Pitt "Do I show you the crotch or the ass?" :)

There were so many people there. Funny thing, I went all set to mock the crowd and make scathing comments about their puffy paint holiday (it's Fall so lots of leaves) sweatshirts, but once I got there it really was a good time. I actually unironically enjoyed it. That's happening a lot as I get older, imagine that. There were tons and tons of mom/daughter combos and at the beginning they asked all the men to stand up so we could count them both. Ummm, yeah, and since it's the south and a cooking show I did mean to say tons and tons :)
It was basically an infomercial for Viva paper towels ("next, put down your Viva and measure the flour over it to catch any spills") and those paper plates that lock together, and of course the cookbooks/magazines but the lady running the show was really chipper (no, really really chipper) so you didn't notice too much. Picture a live action Magic Bullet commercial. You know when something is soothing and mesmerizing? Yeah. Like that. I'm DEFINITELY going again next year.

Although I hope it's closer to Thanksgiving next year so we can see the really wacky sweaters with elves and stuff embroidered on. Posted by Picasa
